چکیده

Putrescine and spermidine were the dominant polyamines in Tetrahymena cells. Spermine was present only in very small amounts. Changes in the amount of putrescine during and after the synchronizing heat treatment followed a definite quantitative pattern. Changes in the amount of spermidine were similar, though not so pronounced. The changes may be due to a varied influx of polyamines into the cells. Moreover, the exchange of polyamines between the cells and the culture medium must be specifically regulated since there seems to be a relatively greater accumulation of spermidine than of putrescine in the cells, and since spermine was almost excluded from the cells.

Changes of free polyamines in the leaves and stems of ‘Kinnow’ mandarin tree as affected by alternate bearing

In order to investigate the seasonal changes and the possible role of the free polyamines in the leaves and stems on the alternate bearing habit of the ‘Kinnow’ mandarin (Citrus reticulata Blanco) trees, a comparative study was conducted to analyze the levels of free polyamines  (putrescine, spermidine and spermine) in the leaves and stems tissues of “on” and &ldquo...

The Effect of Different Polyamines on Some Physiological Traits as ACC Oxidase and Superoxide Dismutase Enzymes Activity in Chrysanthemum morifolium cv. ‘Bright Golden Ann’

This experiment was conducted to determine the effect of foliar spray with polyamines on postharvest life of chrysanthemum cut flowers in the horticulture laboratory of Islamic Azad University of Rafsanjan in 2015. For this purpose, an experiment was conducted based on a completely randomized design with three replications with spermidine, spermine and putrescine treatments at 1, 2 and 3 mM con...

Polyamine regulation of heat-shock-induced spermidine N1-acetyltransferase activity.

The enzyme spermidine/spermine N1-acetyltransferase (N1-SAT) is rapidly induced by heat shock in CHO and A549 cells, with activity declining by 24 h. Depletion of intracellular polyamines by alpha-difluoromethylornithine, an inhibitor of ornithine decarboxylase, blocks this induction. Re-addition of putrescine to these cultures restores the response to heat shock, with a concomitant increase in...

Regulation by polyamines of ornithine decarboxylase activity and cell division in the unicellular green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii.

Polyamines are required for cell growth and cell division in eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms. In the unicellular green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, biosynthesis of the commonly occurring polyamines (putrescine, spermidine, and spermine) is dependent on the activity of ornithine decarboxylase (ODC, EC 4.1.1.17) catalyzing the formation of putrescine, which is the precursor of the other t...

The dynamics of synthesis and degradation of polyamines in normal and regenerating rat liver and brain.

Putrescine (1,4-diaminobutane), the product of the decarboxylation of ornithine, is a precursor of the polyamines spermidine and spermine. After administration in uiuo of radiolabeled ornithine or putrescine, changes in specific activity of putrescine, spermidine, and spermine have been assessed in normal and regenerating liver and in brain. In both normal liver and in brain, after labeling wit...
